Amir Eslami — Oriental Winds [solo flute]
Oriental Winds by Amir Eslami (2018) Performed by Kelariz Keshavarz more info below ⤵ Jan. 19, 2020, New York City, NY Flute New Music Consortium https://www.kelariz.com http://amir-eslami.com Program notes: "Oriental Winds" (2018) for solo flute is an exploration of extended technique in combination with Persian musical influences. Many composers in recent years have created works utilizing extended techniques, however, my goal has been to create a modern setting that combines extended technique with traditional themes and harmonies. With the intent of drawing in an otherwise traditional musical audience through my use of tonal melodies and harmonies, my music aims to successfully introduce modern techniques in a more palatable manner. In this way, I strive to bridge the gap between the traditional and the modern. - Amir Eslami Iranian New Waves Project: Iranian New Waves is a unique project presenting more than fifty compositions of new flute music by contemporary Iranian composers. Ali Gorji — Solo for Flute I [solo flute]
Solo for Flute I by Ali Gorji (2018) Performed by Kelariz Keshavarz more info below ⤵ Jab. 19, 2020, New York City, NY Flute New Music Consortium https://www.kelariz.com https://www.aligorji.de Program notes: “Solo for Flute I” (2018) like most of my music composed after 2015, is a computer-aided composition with the use of an open form. Although the formal structure of this piece was pre-developed and fixed, there are endless possibilities of combining its independently pre-composed elements for a performance. Algorithmic processes were utilized to determine the time structures. I then created 25 modules, which were categorized into 5 groups, or musical ideas, each containing 5 modules. All of these elements constitute a pool of building elements which can be put together in an infinite variety of ways. In this particular performance, the final form consists of a permutation of 5 episodes each containing 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 modules. – Ali Gorji Iranian New Waves Project: Iranian New Waves is a unique project presenting more than fifty compositions of new flute music by contemporary Iranian composers. She is closely related to the concept of the path, both the ritual path and the path of the hereafter. She leads the mortal to the right way in life and the afterlife.
